Technical Standards of Water

The effective implementation of Decree 51/2015 requires the development of technical standards to ensure that private water systems meet public health and safety requirements. Technical standards govern water quality and testing, distribution infrastructure, operation and maintenance regimes, and inspection requirements. Service standards are required to ensure acceptable minimum standards of water quantity and availability, and to ensure that Private Water Suppliers (FPAs) provide services equitably to consumers. SPEED + will provide technical review and recommendations to DNAAS when drafting and finalizing technical and service standards for FPAs. SPEED + will also provide assistance with participatory review processes with beneficiaries and FPA / AFORAMO, presentations to the Ministry and the National Directorate of Water Resources and final integration and harmonization of standards for final approval.
