Corruption is a key disincentive to doing business in Mozambique, and has been identified by local and international companies as a key constraint.

SPEED’s work on democracy and governance focuses on increasing transparency around certain business-related issues and enhancing the voice of the private sector in policy making. Transparency empowers citizens and enterprises by equipping them with accurate information about key regulatory requirements, thus reducing the potential for corruption. An example is recent work on clarifying the rules around obtaining land rights.
