USAID Northern Mozambique Tourism Project (NMTP)

The fort on Ibo Island was rehabilitated with assistance from USAID
USAIDs Northern Mozambique Tourism Project (NMTP) ended in 2010. The project helped: (1) To improve the promotion of a Northern Mozambique tourism product, attracting more tourists to the region: (2) to increase investment in the tourims sector in the region to effectively accomodate and benefit from an expansion of the tourism industry; and (3) to preserve key environmental assests on which Northern Mozambique is based.
All interventions under NMTP were linked to a forum concept that was created to support development of the tourism in the swath of land comprising the Northern Arc (an arc with one edge on Lake Niassa, sweeping through Cabo Delgado Province and the other edge in Nampula Province ending near Ilha de Mozambique).
Outputs of the project can be found on this site
